Climate & Fiestas in Mojácar

Climate

Mojácar has more than 3000 hours of sun per year. The medium yearly temperature is around 20 °C. Winter is normally mild  with the marine temperature higher than the air temperature.

Fiestas

Fiestas are important in Spain, and tend to be very participative. The most important in Mojácar are:

Moors and Christians:  Visitors in June during the weekend nearest the 10th, will have the opportunity of attending the famous Mojàcar "Moors and Christians" festival.

This renowned fiesta is staged every year at this time and includes re-inactments of the Christian landings on what was Moor held territory and the struggle that ensued.

The hundreds of costumed local people as 'actors' taking part and the sounds of fighting and flintlock weapons being discharged forms an integral part of the weekends festivities culminating in the massed parades of uniformed armed Christians and flamboyantly dressed Moors forms the high point on the Sunday in the 700 year old 'Pueblo'.

One of the fiestas in southern Spain that is definitely not to be missed

San Agustín: Agustín is the male patron saint of Mojácar. This fiesta falls on 28 August.

Romería de San Isidro: 15 May.

San Juan Hogueras: (Bonfires of Saint John) 23/24 June.

Virgen del Rosario: Rosario is the "patrona" or secondary patron saint of Mojácar. This fiesta falls on October 7
